With the role of Boards coming under greater scrutiny, never before has there been a more important time for Boards to review their effectiveness and consciously define their approach.
We work with Boards to:
Gain clarity as to their role and the role of the executive with whom they work
Understand the notion of organisation culture, how it is shaped and, truly understand the role they play in influencing the culture of the organisation they govern
Determine the Board culture that will best allow them to govern effectively
Strengthen relationships between board members and agree the way they will work together
Ensure the quality and validity of the information flow from the organisation
Determine the strategy or strategic intent (depending on the role of the specific Board) for the organisation.
The first step in improving the effectiveness of any Board is to determine how the Board members and key stakeholders view the Board performance and analyse what is required to improve it. Discovery allows us to understand individual, board and organisation context, strengths and opportunities, challenges and dilemmas facing the Board. This phase usually involves:
- Deep structured one on one interviews with each Board member and other key stakeholders
- Review of strategy, structure, performance measures and results.
It may be a full day offsite, a series of half day sessions, a 12 month development program, or a series of individual coaching sessions culminating in a Board workshop and quarterly check-in sessions.
