The first step in improving the effectiveness of any Board is to determine how the Board members and key stakeholders view the Board performance and analyse what is required to improve it. Discovery allows us to understand individual, board and organisation context, strengths and opportunities, challenges and dilemmas facing the Board. This phase usually involves:

  • Deep structured one on one interviews with each Board member and other key stakeholders
  • Review of strategy, structure, performance measures and results.

Once we have a clear understanding of the business outcomes and challenges facing the Board, the areas that are working well and those requiring attention, we will design a program that works for your Board in terms of timing, budget and outcomes.

It may be a full day offsite, a series of half day sessions, a 12 month development program, or a series of individual coaching sessions culminating in a Board workshop and quarterly check-in sessions.
